Aussie Pop Divas

They have played a major influence on the music scene since the early 1960s and they still continue to help shape the music industry today. They are the Aussie Pop Divas.

Since Little Pattie led the way in the 1960s and the all-girl band Peaches rocked the charts in the 1970s Aussie Pop Divas have had a huge impact in the Australian music industry.

Many of the country’s most successful Pop Divas made their transition from soap operas stars to chart-topping singers, following in the footsteps of the queen of all Aussie Pop Divas Kylie Minogue. Minogue set the stage when she embarked on her national and international singing career in 1987 after gaining TV fame in her role on the TV soap Neighbours.

Since then numerous female actors from Australian soaps Neighbours, Home & Away and E Street made the transition from acting to singing.

Dannii Monogue, Delta Goodrem, Natalie Imbruglia, Melissa Tkautz, Toni Pearen, Holly Valance, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Bec Cartwright also made the leap from screen to studio, with some enjoying more success than others. Not every Aussie Pop Diva started on a soap opera however. Ricki-Lee, Tina Arena, Jessica Mauboy, Vanessa Amorosi and the duo Rhapsody were among those that didn’t.
